Boat Share

We have hundreds of enquiries every year.  All with one thing in common – they would love to own a houseboat!

Some build with us and some only dream.  There are a number of reasons why people don’t go ahead; not enough time to take on the project, who would look after it, would I use it enough or simply its too costly! 

This is why Houseboat Concepts has teamed up with Adelaide Boat Share to bring ownership to a broader range of people.

You already know that Houseboat Concepts build beautiful Houseboats to an exceptional quality, and in fact we have just been awarded 'Houseboat of the Year' in the Australian Marine awards.

Adelaide Boat Share already have a wealth of experience in boat share of power boats and are very excited about bringing houseboats to the market.  So excited in fact that the owners have purchased the first share!

Obviously there is much to discuss but the general arrangement would be:

• The houseboat would measure 20m x 8.5m with a 1.8m swimdeck, single storey with a sundeck.  She would include 5 bedrooms and 5 en-suite – see floor plan.
• Moored at either Berri or Mannum.
• You would purchase a share (or shares) from 12 shares at a cost of $67,000 each.
• Each shareholder would pay a monthly fee of $395 (to be confirmed) to cover maintenance, mooring, insurance, turnaround costs etc.
• Each shareholder would have use of the boat for 4 weeks per year: 1 week Summer, 1 week Autumn, 1 week Winter and 1 week Spring.
• A 3 year proposition – at the end of 3 years we would have several options;
• Sell the boat, divide the proceeds and purchase another new boat for the shareholders that wanted to stay on.
• Roll over the investment for a new 3 year term.  Some shareholders may wish to sell with new ones buying in.
• Any other proposal the owners may choose.

Some immediate advantages we see are:

• 4 weeks holidays per year on your very own luxury houseboat with family & friends!
• Low cost entry in owning your own houseboat with a saleable asset at the end of the term.
• No maintenance, no cleaning - simply arrive with your clothes and esky and step on board.
• Current rental for a houseboat of this calibre is between $5,400 & $7,000 per week peak time and they certainly won't offer to refund your money when they sell! 
• Boat share takes up little of your precious time.  We take care of everything.  Of course you will need to try and relax when you are on board!
• A great asset for a business to own!
